Drawn Together: A Nationwide Artist Anti-Terrorist Action

Cortez High School, Phoenix, Arizona

The Art Club students at Cortez High School did their drawing in the school's central courtyard, using vibrant red, white and blue chalks.

They did the drawing for Veterans' Day, and planned an entire event to include all the students at the opening ceremony.

The ROTC Honor Guard opened the ceremonies, and the chorus sang the National Anthem.

Drawn by Cortez H.S. Art Club: Chris and Marcus Begay, Sarah Sullivan, Patricia Gonzales, Joel Hazelton, Sean Bonnette and Brenton Jensen. Diane Bykowski, Faculty Advisor

The drawing was surrounded by yellow "crime scene" tape.

Red, white and blue balloons and streamers filled the courtyard.

Students reflected and shared their thoughts with each other.

Drawn November 13, 2001.
