Drawn Together: A Nationwide Artist Anti-Terrorist Action

What people are saying

....what a wonderful idea! Also, I loved your website and clear instructions and specs -- but most of all, I really experienced the horror in a new way when I saw your scale drawing. It's very impactful and I'm passing the word on so others can look and hopefully implement the project all over the country. ----10/22/01 MK (Ellicott City, Maryland)

Your Drawn Together project is awesome! Just the other day I said to a friend that I haven't really been able to grasp the scale of this whole Sept. 11 towers tragedy. Now I do. Wow! Your project really puts into perspective the massive-ness of what happened. ----10/24/01 MTC (Phoenix, Arizona)

.....I am currently attending Mesa Community College. While walking around campus at night with some friends after Cheer Practice, I noticed orange cones surrounding a chalk drawn picture as I walked closer to them I noticed the images were reflecting the WTC Buildings and it was then that I realized the amount of loss we were dealing with. Seeing it in front of me was a real shock. I stood in silence as I read the message and then still silenty stared at the pictures. ----10/24/01 AD (Mesa, Arizona)

.....(the drawing is) both sad and yet somehow beautiful at the same time. ----10/18/01 HG (Tempe, Arizona)

...would be ideal for more schools to do these drawings. It would be good to see students get involved with it from all different disciplines--math, art, music, writing. And seeing the scale of the buildings in person would be impressive, as so many have never been to NYC. ----11/19/01 HL (Peoria, Arizona)

...We had some great comments. Mostly people were surprised at the size of the buildings in comparison to a local one story (buildings on campus) and seven story building (Crescent Sheraton Hotel). Also, people were stopping by all week and into the next week to read all of it, including the words along the perimeter. There was a sense of reverence and awe as students, parents, staff and guests on campus stood in silence around it. ----12/9/01 DJB (Phoenix, Arizona)

...I am in the Cortez High School Art Club. After September 11 I felt bad for those around me with so much grief and pain. I wanted to find a way to show that I cared, and that I was proud of America. That's when our adviser said we would be doing the DrawnTogether.org drawing. I was proud to be a part of it, and I will always remember the impact it had on our school. ----2/6/02 BJ (Phoenix, Arizona)

We will be doing this event as part of the 1st anniversary. Thanks for a super way to commemorate this life changing event.----8/21/02 BL, Social Studies Teacher, Jewett Academy (Winter Haven, Florida)
